Enjoy a peaceful holiday in our lovely, rural retreat in the foothills of the Mountains de Malaga, overlooking the majestic Guadalhorce river valley and the Costa del Sol, Spain. The beaches and Malaga International Airport are only 20 minutes drive away.Finca Fernandez was originally a mandarin growing farm and has been sympathetically restored to provide holiday accommodation of two adjacent, typically Andalucian houses, Villas Rosa and Palma, which can be leased separately out of high season or together at any time.

Finca Fernandez is located in a small rural village called La Alqueria. It is situated between the towns of Alhaurin el Grande and Alhaurin de la Torre, approximately 20 minutes from Malaga International Airport and the bustling resort of the Costa del Sol.

Finca Fernandez can accommodate parties from two to thirteen, romantic couples, small weddings, groups of golfers or large family who wish for a single location but with privacy. Three terraces, bar, jacuzzi, satellite TV plus internet access, floodlit pool and BBQ area.

Accommodation

Casa Palma has two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, dining room and lounge and its’ own private patio with sun shade, table and chairs. The lounge has a wood burning stove and a good selection of books, satellite Sky TV, internet broadband access and DVD player. We have furnished the house in a simple but attractive Andalucian style. The property is on one level with a gated, stepped entrance. It is safe for children or pets, because they will be unable to leave the confines of the house and patio and stray to the poolside unnoticed. The main bedroom has a double bed and there are fitted wardrobes in both bedrooms. There are ceiling fans in every room and mosquito screens on the windows.

Casa Rosa has three bedrooms and is also laid out on one storey, although there is a step inside the house leading to the sleeping area, which would make the house difficult for a disabled person. There are two shower bathrooms in this property. There is a private patio, table, chairs and large sun awning.

All bed linen and towels are provided, although we ask you to bring your own beach towels. We provide our guests with a small welcome pack on arrival, with any seasonal produce from the finca if available - avocados, plums, mandrarins, tomatoes, lemons, oranges, kumquats, satsumas, grapes, custard apples, plus a free drink on the house at the bar with a tasty tapas.

We live on site, next door, but unseen from your accommodation and this year, we have added a Jacuzzi, a private bar with snack menu and opened our mandarin grove, other further grounds with two fish ponds and a fountain, to our guests which we hope you will also enjoy. This area is open 4 nights per week, with very reasonable prices, some free tapas and occasional live guitar if wanted, or just chill out in the tub with the TV. If you tire of cooking one night, you may find this a quicker option than a takeaway!

Golf

Our properties are next door to the 27 hole Lauro golf course. www.laurogolf.com  Each hole has the name of a famous bullfighter, with a friendly layout amongst beautiful scenery, designed by Folco Nardi and not too demanding, but an ideal spot to assess your game.

ALHAURIN GOLF : At the foot of the Mijas mountains, this is a difficult one and you need a buggy. The course was designed by Seve Ballesteros. We had a meal at the Club house, very pleasant and not overly expensive. 18 hole Par 72 Length 6,221 m  www.alhauringolf.com

PARADOR MALAGA (952 376 677) founded by the Spanish Royal family in 1925, this is the oldest course designed by Tom Simpson. Part parkland, part links, part state owned and part parakeet owned !

GUADALHORCE designed by Kosti Kuronen, splits into two, with the first being English parkland and the second more difficult and elevated — a friendly atmosphere with lots of other amenities for the non player. 18 hole Par 72 Length 6194 m. www.guadalhorce.com

LA CALA MIJAS (952 476 843) 3 courses at Mijas Costa — all levels, designed by Cabell Robinson MIJAS GOLF CLUB 2 courses at the village, supposedly one of the best championship layouts on the Costa designed byRobert Trent Jones.
