Carrington Resort and Golf Club and Karikari Estate Vineyard and Winery
Karikari Peninsula, North Island

Carrington is a lodge, golf club, vineyard and 3000 acre Black Angus stud farm located on the Karikari Peninsula, in Northland on the North Island of New Zealand. Carrington's facilities include an ocean side, tournament-quality, 18-hole golf course, designed by Matt Dye, a skeet and trap (clay targets) shooting range, tennis courts, a heated swimming pool and spa looking out over the Pacific Ocean, 4km of secluded white sand beach and the hillside vineyards of Karikari Estate Vineyard and Winery.

Carrington also offers fine dining and lounge facilities, a library, billiard room, a guest lodge and pro shop. The sweeping ocean vistas provide a spectacular back drop to the Estate's activities.

Carrington is set in the middle of the Carrington Farms Estate, a 3000-acre ecologically planned property of secluded virgin beaches and restored natural wetlands.

Carrington is located in the warmest area of New Zealand, closest to the equator. The weather patterns are very moderate, much akin to the southern coastal areas of California from Santa Barbara to San Diego. Extreme temperature variations are non-existent, despite the fact that the peninsular is semi-tropical. The average midday winter temperature is 18° C (64° F), and the average midday summer temperature is 24° C (75° F). The seasons are opposite of those in the Northern Hemisphere.

"... Carrington, home to ... one of the country's best, most beautiful and challenging golf courses." - Northland Age

Carrington provides both lodge and villa accommodations.

Lodge accommodations include ten spacious, air conditioned bedrooms with private bathrooms, each containing a California King sized bed and satellite TV. Each lodge room opens onto a wide verandah with views to the ocean or golf course or native bush and vineyard. The lodge connects by verandah walkways to the clubhouse, library, dining room and members lounge.

The Villas offer self-contained, luxuriously appointed accommodations with two double bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. Each Villa has a fireplace, satellite television, air conditioning, and private garage. Porches on the first and second floors look out over the 15th fairway to Karikari Beach and the Pacific Ocean. All kitchen appliances and household items necessary for guests are included. A limited number of Villas are available for personal ownership.

Dining
Carrington offers gourmet dining with food created by Mark Oliver, our Michelin Star trained chef. Our menus created daily, focus firstly on food grown on Carrington Farms (Black Angus beef, native eel, honey, vegetables and fresh herbs) and then showcase the abundance of fine produce available in our district. Scallops form the beds of Karikari Beach, oysters from Rangaunu Harbor, mussels from Houhora Harbor, cheese from Mahoe and Pukepoto, fresh fish from Manganoui, fresh Saffron from the Hokianga and many other small producers. This fine produce is accompanied by the fine wines of Karikari Estate Vineyards and Winery.
Carrington's dining room is open to our house guests for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the year. Our chef's craft a new dinner menu each day highlighting the current seasons flavors.
Casual dinners are welcome but reservations are essential.

The Golf Course
The tournament quality 18 hole Carrington Club golf course was inaugurated on December 15, 2003 and designed by American golf course designer Matt Dye.
The unique feature of the Carrington Club golf course is that, although it has an oceanside location, it looks and plays like an "inland golf" course, complete with rolling hills, vales, and natural water hazards. It is not a typical "tabletop" oceanside golf course, which is sighted on a flat plateau with man-made obstacles, produced from artificial contouring of the land. Instead, Carrington Club stresses the natural contours of its location on the gently sloping lower levels of a hill side site adjacent to the Pacific Ocean.
The resultant effect is the challenging play of a rolling inland golf course but with the beautiful ocean vistas of its seaside location. We believe that this is a combination unique to the Carrington Club and unmatched at any other top ranked tournament quality golf course in New Zealand.
