THE FATTORIA DI CAIANO

The Fattoria di Caiano estate is formed by a group of buildings established around an old farm house which stood close to the old road connecting the Sieve valley with the region of Casentino passing by the base of the Falterona mountain. The Gori family owned those buildings and the surrounding land since the middle of the 8th. Century. The various members of the family combined their professional work in Florence with the development of their properties considering them not only as an investment.

The Fattoria di Caiano is situated in the centre of Tuscany between Mugello and Casentino areas, therefore it is in a strategic position in regard to places of great importance, both artistic and historic: Firenze, Arezzo, Pisa , Lucca, Poppi Eremo di Camaldoli, La Verna, just to mention a few.

The Etruscan nation dwelled here and you can visit various archeological sites or walk the Etruscan paths.  It is close to the Foreste Casentinesi National Park which you can visit trekking, on mountain bike or on horseback. Its dominant position on the valley makes it possible to enjoy fabulous sunsets.

The village of Londa is 3 kms away and there you can find the main services : supermarket, bank, medical doctor, pharmacy, post office, public library, internet point, horse riding , fishing , roller skating and various restaurants where you can taste genuine tuscan food. Last but not least good wine: we are in the Chianti Putto area.

The various buildings which constitute La Fattoria di Caiano shape a small village" borgo" set around the old garden. The buildings are independent and offer different living quarters set in the uncontaminated landscape: modern appliances combined with pieces of antique furniture for a most comfortable and enjoyable stay. We also have swimming pool "Vascone" – size 12mt x 5mt, 3.20mt deep which is set among the olive and fruit trees.

The Villa : The Villa is a three storey building of the beginning of the nineties; since it was built as residence of the owners it has more elegant finishing as compared with the ex agricultural buildings.  The apartment is on the ground floor directly leading into the historical garden and the fountain through the ample entrance which is also used as a studio.In the living room with fireplace the paintings of the ancestors retrace the history of the family. One master bedroom with fireplace and one with twin beds adorned with a bas-relief of the Madonna.

The Colonica: The apartment has been restored in 2003 and it occupies the space once used as stables, oil presser, hay loft. The restoration has been carried out in the maximum respect of the characteristics of the building: terracotta floors, vaulted ceilings, wooden beams. The central room houses the fireplace with double sofa bed at one end, beyond an arch, the kitchen with its pietra serena wash basin. The “green room “with wrought iron twin beds, the master bedroom ,the “ yellow room”, with an ample stone fireplace once used to heat the water for the oil presser.  Large bathroom with tub.

Il Pollaio: Il Pollaio is the old hen house: the building which has been completely restored in 2009 used to house the poultry which was an important feature of the farm. The restoration has maintained the rural flavour of the old building as indicated by the red and white stripes and by the wooden beams of the ceiling. Whitewashed walls, cement floor and pieces of furniture recuperated from the past use give a special flavour to this dwelling. One master bedroom, a smaller bedroom for two, the living room with kitchenette and an ample window overlooking the valley and the private garden shadowed by two secular pine trees.

Golf Club Casentino

The Golf club here in Poppi set in the  Casentino National Park on a hillside with wonderful panoramic views across the beautiful green countryside of Tuscany,  at about 500 asl.  The course is set at an altitude of 450 meters above sea level.From this point one can take in the entire Casentino Valley, the first valley of the Arno river, the green heart of Tuscany and the home of the National Park of the Casentinese forest.

Golf Club Poggio dei Medici

The golf course was designed by Baldovino Dassù and Alvise Rossi Fioravanti and it is an impressive and entertaining course to play. It is a championship course built according to USGA standards. The golf course is challenging for both beginner and advanced players, including those who enjoy playing at competition levels.

Golf dell ‘Ugolino
A natural course, difficult, for differences in levels, the handicaps, the small and well defended greens. Considered one of the most suggestive natural golf course of the worls, it has been named among the 50 most beautiful golf course of the world by the American writer Chris Santella.
