Welcome to La Garance en Provence, located 4km from the village of Thor, in Provence, near the foothills of the Luberon. The farmhouse dates from the 17th century, when it was originally used as a postal relay station.

It is situated between the cities of Avignon, the City of the Popes, and Isle de la Sorgue, famous for it's antique dealers. The farmhouse faces the crumbling Castle of Thouzon, perched on a hill a few kms in the distance.

The house has been lovingly restored, using original materials and techniques, but also provides all modern comforts and conveniences to make your stay enjoyable. The property is 1.3 hectares and is cultivated with alfalfa. The scents of lavender, rosemary, and the songs of cicadas envelope you in this warm, sunny and calm retreat.

Chantal and Régis will be happy to welcome you and help you in discovering the charm and sites of the area and share the delights of staying in Provence.

We have five ensuite bedrooms, all south facing, spacious and comfortable in a warm and welcoming guesthouse.

Location

The location of La Garance en Provence is ideal for relaxing and discovery.
Near to the villages perched on the hillsides of Luberon, Gordes, Roussillon.
At 7km from l’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the village of antiques.
At only 15kms from the city of Popes at Avignon and the Festival of Theatre « in and off ».
Close by to the  Festival d’Orange d’art lyrique (lyrical art).
La Roque d’Anthéron and its Festival of piano.

Activities

La Garance en Provence is well placed to offer a number of activities for its clients, walking and rambling in the hills of Ventoux, either on foot or cycling.

Grand Avignon at Vedène 10 minutes.
Chateaublanc at Morières 15 minutes.
Provence Country Club at Saumane 20 minutes.

For Horseriding:
Les cavaliers du Comtat at Chateauneuf de Gadagne 10 minutes.
La Gourmette at Vedène 8 mn.

Visiting traditional villages:
Oppède, Ménerbes, Goult, Roussilllon, and the wine route takes you to Route Beaumes de Venise, Vacqueyras, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, through the vineyards to Les Dentelles de Montmirail.

Or you can just stay and relax at La Garance around the swimming pool or maybe a game of boules in the shade of the old trees.  We also have bikes available for your use.

The Provence Country Club course is situated on an exceptional site, formed by the foothills of Vaucluse, Luberon and Alpilles, in the middle of a magnificent typically Mediterranean vegetation. Due to its reliefs, its fairways and its water obstacles, it is a technical and difficult course.

Golf de Chateaublanc
At Chateaublanc Golf Course, the layout was designed by Gery Watine and Thierry Sprecher. It features some 30 odd bunkers with soft curves, and these are used to protect small greens, some of which are at the 6th, 14th and 15th holes and these are also perched on slopes. There are also ditches, ponds and reservoirs at this golf course.

Golf du Grand Avignon
Beautiful 18 hole course situated in a quiet environment. At first sight it seems relatively easy because the ground is totally flat, nevertheless numerous holes are rather narrow and ask for a good technique and quite a lot of precision. Neither easy, nor difficult either, it is accessible to a big number of players. Besides that it is very well maintained and where it is good to play, with the family or between friends.
