Dale Brett would like to welcome you to his home, Le Conte de Fées Chambre D'Hotes.

On the western coast of France, south of the Loire Valley and north of Aquitaine lies the Poitou-Charente region, the second sunniest region in the country, with temperatures reaching into the high 30's during July and August. In the Vienne départment, 20km west of it's capital,  Poitiers, (perhaps best known to English visitors for it's links to the Black Prince) lies the picturesque village of Benassay, and our home

It is a charentaise maison style, set in its own walled gardens, ideal for couples and families alike who are looking to escape and relax, and enjoy what the Charente has to offer. Set in a village with it's own boulangerie, restaurant, general store and petrol station. Benassay, is ideally situated to get to all the local attractions and towns.

The Suites
The Sapphire Suite is a double room, with its own en-suite. Decorated to a high standard, filled with Italian furniture, with soft furnishings in sapphire blue, hence the name. It is also comes equipped with television and DVD player, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, stationary and, for your peace of mind, a safe. We also supply robes to all our guests to use during your stay.

The Emerald Suite can sleep 3-4 people . As with all the suites, the decor of this room is in keeping with the character of the house. The modern styling and rustic furnishings gives it a character all of its own. Complete with a full bathroom suite, television and DVD player, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities and stationary

The Diamond Suite is a good sized ground- floor double bedroom, with a nine jet shower room en-suite.  The room has large French doors opening onto the courtyard, with plenty of character. The decor of the room, as a mixture of rustic and modern alike, comes equipped with television and DVD player, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities and stationary. For your peace of mind, a safe is installed and we also supply robes to all our guests to use during your stay. We have furnished this room with a Louis Quinze style bed, with complimentary soft furnishings, which gives this room a really romantic feel.

Dining room - THE DINING AREA (seats 6-8)
We have a large dining room, where all our meals are served, or if you wish, we have a enclosed bistro area, for those warm sunny mornings and evenings alike - after all, you are in the second sunniest region in France


We will have great pleasure to serve you, wherever you decide. Following on from the dining room, is our guest lounge, complete with open fire, original stone floors and beams. Here our guests can read, play board games, listen to music on the CD player, or simply relax with a large glass of wine.

If you are arriving at the airport we can come and collect you and take you to and from the golf courses.

The golf des Forges is the only 27 hole golf course of the department playable all year round thanks to the investment in a drainage system. Made up of three 9 hole courses, it offers different difficulties to challenge every golfer.The blue course fairly flat with woodland will suit all levels.

Mazieres en Gatine
18 holes par 72 6585 yds
Set amongst lakes and ancient trees, this course produces surprise after surprise behind each hedgerow. Take lunch or stay for longer in the château.

Poitevin
18 holes Par 71 6043m
Poitevin Golf Club was created in 1990 by Olivier Brizon and is now considered as an international class golf course.  Each hole offers different obstacles and very well maintained, a real pleasure to play.

Niort
18 holes Par 71  5868m
A fairly flat course on which all the tees are raised. The greens are well defended by bunkers and ponds and the fairways are fairly narrow makeing it a technically-demanding course. The first few holes are shared with the horse-racing course.
