It remains totally secluded and completely rustic, romantic, peaceful and surrounded by nature, which are the ideal ingredients for a perfect retreat.

The wildlife surrounding the area is plentiful. Swallows inhabit the immediate surrounding with Woodpeckers, Owls, Buzzards and sometimes a Goshawk on the adjacent farm and woodland.

Lurcombe offers a small fishing lake, tennis court and unique relaxation space for all guests to use at their leisure.. Clay pigeon shooting, climbing, caving and horse riding can also be organised by the resident owner at your request.

If you are looking for a different activity while you have a break from golf, why not explore the miles of Dartmoor countryside which are on your doorstep. Lurcombe is also just a stone’s throw away from the coastal attractions of Exmouth, Teignmouth, Dartmouth and the Torbay area. Exeter is only 20 minutes away and offers excellent shopping, and plenty of restaurants to choose from. Both Exeter and the nearby town of Newton Abbot are home to the popular sport of horse racing, with options of both jump and flat racing.

Hele Park Centre – Ashburton Road, Newton Abbot, Devon TQ12 6JN : Hele Park Centre offers a testing 9 hole parkland golf course with undulating fairways and greens. The course offers beautiful views of the Dartmoor National Park and a pleasant 19th hole to retire to after your round. £11.50/12.50 for 9 holes or £20/22 for 18 holes.

Stover Golf Club - The Club House, Stover, Newton Abbot TQ12 6QQ : Stover Golf Club is a popular par 69 parkland golf course in Devon. The front nine recently received some improvements to make it even more enjoyable. The front nine offers some open fairways which gives you a great chance to make a birdie. The back nine on the other hand is quite challenging with fairways a lot more narrow, which means good course management is required. Green fees are £32 for a round or £16 for twilight hours after 5pm.

Torquay Golf Club - 30 Petitor Road, St Marychurch, Torbay TQ1 4QF : Torquay Golf Club is one of the best locations in Devon. The views on offer is second to none with stunning views of the sea and coastline. Even though this course is a parkland type course, due to its location right on the coast, the soil is a bit sandy in areas. Lots of trees come in to play and over hang on many fairways, this means you think about your shot placement and it will also help if you can drive straight. Green fees between £23-45 throughout the year.

Bovey Castle Golf Club - Bovey Castle, North Bovey, Dartmoor National Park, Devon,TQ13 8RE : Bovey Castle is regarded as one of the best golf courses in the South West of England. The parkland course has been set to match its sister courses at Gleneagles and Turnberry. The course is very challenging with its fast greens and its sloping fairways but it’s one course you will not forget. Green fees £49 in the low season or £70 in high season.

Teignmouth Golf Club - Haldon Moor, Teignmouth, TQ14 9NY : Set high up overlooking the beautiful seaside town of Teignmouth, Teignmouth Golf Club is a wonderful setting is views to match. This charming heathland course offers wide fairways with forgiving rough. But do watch out for sloping fairways and greens which will cause problems for any type of handicap player. The cost of a round is £40.

Dainton Park Golf Club – Ipplepen, Newton Abbot, TQ12 5TN : Dainton Park offers a wonderful parkland golf course set within striking countryside in which the views are improved from the elevated tees. The course has been designed the highly regarded courses of The Kendleshire and The Players near Bristol. Green fees £26-29.

Teign Valley Golf Club – The golf club is set within the picturesque countryside of the Teign Valley. This parkland type course is set within the valleys of the countryside which means no two holes are ever the same. You will not be coming across many flat holes, which means there will be lots of ups and downs. So course management is more important than big hitting. Green fees £22-30.
